Polished branded ads are getting more expensive and less effective. UGC is the fix most performance marketers haven't fully committed to yet.

If your paid social costs are rising and your returns are falling, you're not alone. The brands that have kept their ROAS high haven't done it by spending more on production. They've done it by switching to UGC.
Why traditional ad creative is losing
Audiences have developed banner blindness — an unconscious filtering of content that looks like an ad. Polished branded creative, professional voiceover, on-screen text on brand-colored backgrounds — these patterns trigger the skip response before the message lands.
Platforms also increasingly reward content that gets native engagement. When organic UGC generates comments, shares, and saves, the algorithm shows it to more people for less money. Traditional ad creative rarely gets native engagement. UGC almost always does.
The data
UGC creative typically outperforms branded creative by 2–4x higher click-through rate, 30–50% lower cost per click, and significantly higher purchase rate. The reason: it doesn't look like an ad. It looks like a recommendation from someone the viewer relates to.
How to build a UGC ad creative system
Start by briefing 5 to 10 creators with different demographics, styles, and formats. Set clear hooks to test from the beginning — problem-agitate-solve, before-and-after, day-in-the-life, and direct review all work well as starting points. From that initial batch, produce 20 to 40 ad variants, then run structured testing in order: hooks first, then visuals, then CTAs. Once you identify the top performers, brief more content in those specific formats.
This is a 6–8 week process the first time. After that, it's a repeatable machine.
